KORMC win Sportscotland Club of the Year

We’re delighted to announce that Kingdom Off Road Motorcycle Club (KORMC) have been announced as the winners of the 2017, ‘Club of the Year,’ at the Scottish Sports Awards, which took place on Thursday the 7th of December in Glasgow and is attended by the great and the good of Scottish sport. KORMC have made history as the first motorsport club to have ever made it through to the finals for this prestigious award.

The first ever SMS Academy session took place at Knockhill Racing Circuit on 18 October. 2001 World Rally Champion, Robert Reid, kicked off proceedings with a delivery on the aims and objectives of the SMS Academy.

This morning saw the successful applicants to the inaugural Scottish Motor Sports Academy announced at the Ignition Festival of Motoring, with the help of Formula One presenter Lee Mckenzie and 2001 World Rally Champion, Robert Reid.

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July saw riders from across the globe travel to the picturesque Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries and Galloway to take part in the, ‘Scottish Classic Grand National,’ hosted by the Scottish Classic Racing Motorcycle Club (SCRMC).

Scottish Motor Sports are delighted to announce the launch of a new talent development initiative to support promising young SACU riders and MSA drivers in Scotland.

All SACU club members are invited to attend a short presentation and discussion on a proposed new structure to develop motorcycle sport coaching in Scotland. Coaching is identified in the Scottish Motor Sports strategic plan as being a key element to the sports long term success; both from a participation and performance perspective. One of the key outcomes of the strategy is therefore to develop a more comprehensive coaching structure for the SACU.

PHD candidate, Stephanie Adams, is carrying out research into concussion in motorsport and is interested in your feedback to help with the development of a concussion education programme for the sport.

On Saturday 4th February SMS and Glenrothes Motorsport Club organised an Auto test training day for students at Knockhill. Auto testing has proven to be one of the most popular activities delivered within the SMS student events of the past couple of years, so the training day was intended to give student club members the opportunity to spend a bit longer practicing in car in order to refine their skills before trying their hand at competing.
