Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July saw riders from across the globe travel to the picturesque Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries and Galloway to take part in the, ‘Scottish Classic Grand National,’ hosted by the Scottish Classic Racing Motorcycle Club (SCRMC). Flags from 18 different countries flew aside the track as an excess of 150 riders competed across the two day event.
The Scottish Classic Grand National motocross event played host to four different classes of machine; Pre 68, Pre 75, Twinshock +50 and Twinshock -50. Some riders opted to enter the event as part of a team in which each rode within their respective races.
The grounds at Drumlanrig Castle lent themselves spectacularly to the Classic Scrambles event. The track spanned across the rolling hills weaving amongst the trees; a truly enjoyable and challenging course. Speaking about Drumlanrig, SCRMC stated:
“This is the best venue for classic motocross we have seen for many years.”
Overall, the event was deemed a success by organisers, competitors and spectators alike with many already anticipating its 2018 return!
