SMS Academy

SMS Academy

Scotland has an unrivalled track record of success in the world of motorsport, being one of only five countries in the world to have produced World Champions on two, three and four wheels. The SMS Academy intends to contribute to the development of young Scottish motorsport talent and help to ensure that Scotland continues to produce world beaters.

The SMS Academy is Scotland’s first talent development initiative to support both riders and drivers. It benefits from the support of three time Le Mans 24 hours winner - Allan McNish - and three times British Superbike Champion, Niall Mackenzie.

The first SMS Academy squad was launched at the Ignition Festival of Motoring, in Glasgow on 4th August. The 20 successful squad members were selected through an application process, based on their future potential to excel within the sport.

The 20 Academy members will take part in four workshops across the course of the year between August 2017 and August 2018. The programme will be delivered by MSA level 2 qualified coaches and will support members in all aspects of their development, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to maximise their performance.
