As part of our ongoing commitment to developing a strong and active coaching workforce within Scotland, we have arranged for the MSA Level 2 Coaching qualification to be delivered again, at Knockhill, across the weekends of 3rd & 4th February (Block 1) and 17th & 18th February (Block 2).
This follows on from last year’s successful delivery where 15 learners gained their level 2 coaching qualification, making it the largest delivery across the UK to date.
We would encourage any current coaches or individuals with an interest in coaching, to get in touch with us about gaining the qualification in 2018. As with last year, we also encourage clubs - who are interested in developing coaching within their club environment – to nominate individuals to go through the qualification. SMS support will be available post qualification to help clubs with the development of a coaching programme.
One of the clubs to have benefited from this support over the past year has been the Scottish Motor Racing Club. Their club coach, Malcolm McNab, commented:
“The Level 2 coaching qualification has been extremely useful in starting up the SMRC’s club coach programme, with all 4 of our coaches achieving the qualification in 2016.
The course covers such a broad variety of subjects and aspects of the sport that regardless of the competitor approaching us for support, we have the knowledge and toolset at our disposal to give them the help and advice they need to progress in the sport.”
The full cost of the qualification is £719 (£599 plus VAT). However, as with last year, we have been successful in securing funding from sportscotland to offer 12 coaches a subsidised place on the qualification, reducing the cost by almost 50% to £369.
