Spirits were high as the sun shone down over Knockhill Racing Circuit during the second SMS Student Challenge of the year. On Saturday 1st October, 59 students from across the country travelled to Knockhill Racing Circuit to try out different forms of motorsport and endeavour to be crowned the victor! From the four Universities that attended the event; Edinburgh, Heriot Watt, Robert Gordon and Strathclyde; three groups were formed.
Similar to the previous Student Challenge, the day was formatted on a three-way rotation where teams took part in the following challenges:
Students battled it out during each activity to determine 3 overall winners. Competition was fierce amongst the teams but the camaraderie and team work displayed throughout the day from each individual ensured a good time was had by all. The winners were as follows:
Overall, the day proved to be a roaring success and highlighted to everyone how easy it can be to become involved in grass-roots Motorsport.
SMS would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the Students who took part and also to everyone that was involved in the Student Challenge helping to make it happen. We would like to express particular gratitude towards Knockhill for the use of their facilities, including all of the activity organisers. Without their help and also the assistance from Brian, Bill, Dave and Duncan, the day could never have achieved the level of success that it did. Well done everyone and we hope to see you again soon at future events to showcase our fantastic sport. Thank you all!
